Tony George
Indigenous Land Steward
My name is Tony George. I carry two Indian names, my first Indian name is Sulsultun and is from my Gramma Carol’s side and my second Indian name is Siminesa, and that is from my Dad’s side from my late Grandpa. My Grand parents are mother’s side are Carol Joe and Ron George, and their partners would be my Grandpa Harold Joe and Deb (Sulsameethl) George. My parents are Pam and Mark George. My late grandparents are William George and Maryanne Thomas on my Dad’s side. I am from the area of Somena in Quw’utsun territory.
I am a Land Steward for Stqeeye’ Learning Society. I was born and raised by the rivers, always connected with fishing and hunting with Grandpa Ron. I was fishing with my Dad, growing up at a young age. The restoration work I am now doing to bring the fish back is important to me and my young family.
